The design had to be versatile between this and the next production as they were back to back, strike to tech. Due to the static set and its use in both productions, it was overly important that my design visually symbolized location and function. Each color and mix of colors served their purposes. For one, color of light blue represented the ocean, orange – the land, mix of it all – the castle.

During the design process and tech week, each fixture and design choice had to be carefully assessed for whether it was needed or reused by another entity – keeping in mind that power, space, budget and color choices were limited. In addition, lighting actors from two different angles.
